We all know that our success depends on the actions we take each day. With most other careers, you can just clock in and out, but the real estate business isn’t like that. Sometimes you have to work those extra long hours to get to your next closing.

That’s precisely why time management and proper scheduling are so important, and all successful real estate agents are experts on the topic. If you’re just starting out or don’t quite have a feel for the proper way to manage your time, I have a few tips to share that should help you:

1. Set aside specific time for specific tasks. This is commonly referred to as “time blocking.” For key dollar-producing activities like lead generation and lead follow-up, schedule a few hours each morning where that is all you do. Get rid of distractions, and focus on those specific tasks at those specific times. You’ll thank yourself later.

2. Delegate less meaningful tasks, if possible. This isn’t always a possibility, especially for new or solo agents. However, if you’re able to work on a team that has in-house transaction coordinators or ISAs, use that to your advantage so you can focus on generating new business.

3. Consistency is key. No matter how you set up your schedule or block your time, sticking to a regular routine is ideal. The more you go through that routine, the more effective you’ll be and the more business you’ll bring in.
